Organic Blankets and Comforters

Because you spend around one-third of your life in bed, it's important that your blankets and comforters are made of natural, organic materials. Green Home recommends using bedding made from 100% chemically untreated cotton.

Organic Cotton breathes more easily than synthetic fibers and helps dissipate body heat, so you won't wake up with the cold, clammy feeling that synthetics can create. Increased air circulation means that you will sleep cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Cotton lasts longer than synthetics, too.

Choosing blankets and comforters made from organically farmed cotton ensures you a healthful sleep and keeps hazardous runoff out of our rivers, lakes, and streams. For additional information on buying organic blankets and comforters from Green Home, please Click here.

Purchasing organic bedding is easy... once you have all the facts. Let us help and clarify a few things so that you can navigate our site more easily.

Duvet: A filled quilt or comforter, often with a removable cover

Jacquard: A fabric with an elaborately woven pattern produced on a Jacquard loom. A Jacquard attachment controls individual warps. Fabrics of this type are high end because of the time and skill involved in making the Jacquard cards, preparing the loom to produce a new pattern, and the slowness of the weaving operation. The Jacquard weave usually combines two or more basic weaves, with different weaves used for the design and the background.

Percale: Fabric made from a smooth, flat, closely woven and combed fabric that comes in 100% organic cotton

Wisteria: Any climbing shrub belonging to the genus Wisteria. In this case, it is a reference to the pattern of weave found on the comforter, blanket, or sheet which will be vine-like. Picture a cluster of massive vines climbing up the side of an abondoned castle in Europe and you'll begin to get the idea.

Damask: Another word with many meanings, Damask refers generally to a fabric with linen, silk, cotton, or wool that has been woven with elaborate patterns. While shopping, it can sometimes be used as a reference to the soft, light pink color associated with the Damask Rose.

Pure Grow Wool: A regimen of stringent controls were drafted in Sonoma County, CA to establish what is known as Pure Grow Wool. The result of this program is a distinctive line of woolen products, scrupulously cleaned and created without bleaches, formaldehydes, dyes, or animal cruelty by more than 200 California wool ranchers

Flannel: A soft, slightly napped fabric that is usually made of wool or cotton.
